Howl Yuan
When did I graduate from the University of Chichester? 2015 October
What course did I do? MA Theatre (Performance)
What am I doing now (this can be more than one thing: write a narrative if you want)?
I am working as the sushi chief and performance maker, I currently organize an artist exchange project between Taiwan and UK called ‘Artist Home Swap'
What do I love about my job/artistic practice/lifestyle?
Working as an artist is a privilege: speaking your mind out loud!
How did doing Performing Arts/Theatre at Chichester help me to do what I do now?
The programme cultivated and inspired me and developed my artistic career. The staff in Theatre really supported me to access the artistic community across the UK, which helped me to build up the network I am working, including the Exchange I am managing right now.
What was my favourite moment/class/project when at Chi?
I loving making my first performance in the UK! During the process, my tutor, mentor and all the staff really helped me and supported me with everything I needed.
What do I most miss about Chi? All the staff, their support and friendliness
My advice for anyone starting in the Theatre Department this coming year….
- Develop your own unique method of making work. This program is perfect for you.
- Don’t sit and talk all the time, stand up and make something. Jump out of your comfort zone.
