Pre-sessional Programme 2022

Language and Study Skills for International Students

The Programme focuses on the development of University-level academic language and study skills for those planning to undertake degree programmes delivered in English.

For 2022 entry it is our intention to offer Pre Sessional programmes in a face to face capacity and depending on demand there many also be opportunity to undertake the programme online. The application procedure, content, and dates will all remain the same regardless of the delivery mode.

10 Week Pre-Sessional 5 Week Pre-Sessional 
Entry Requirements The 10 week programme is designed to raise students IELTS by 1.0

Minimum entry requirement 4.5 in all four components (reading, writing, speaking and listening) or equivalent.

For degree courses requiring a 5.5 overall  – minimum requirement 4.5

For degree courses requiring a 6.0 overall - minimum requirement 5.0

For degree courses requiring a 6.5 overall– minimum requirement 5.5

The 5 week programme is designed to raise students IELTS by 0.5

Minimum entry requirement 5.0 in all four components (reading, writing, speaking and listening) or equivalent.

For degree courses requiring a 5.5 overall– minimum requirement 5.0

For degree courses requiring a 6.0 overall - minimum requirement 5.5

For degree courses requiring a 6.5 overall– minimum requirement 6.0

How to Apply Once you have applied for your degree programme of choice, either Undergraduate or Postgraduate and have received an offer of a place, please email admissions@chi.ac.uk to request to apply for a pre-sessional programme.  We can then add this to your record.
