Quantitative Criminology Lab

The Quantitative Criminology Lab uses statistical data to help understand and predict criminal behaviour, measure the impact of crime on society, and also to help improve investigative practice.

Research data is typically collected via survey methodology, field research and by gaining access to official records. Secondary data is used to examine patterns of offending behaviour over time and place.

Statistical analysis is also used to compliment research studies which have been designed to incorporate both quantitative and qualitative data collection strategies to give a much more informed viewpoint of the topic under investigation.
